Interview with "One Upon a Time ... In Hollywood" actress Nichole Galicia - Naluda Magazine (2024)

Check our interview with stunning Actress and Philanthropist Nichole Galicia who can be seen in Quentin Tarantino’s film “One Upon a Time … In Hollywood”. Starring Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Margot Robbie, a faded television actor and his stunt double strive to achieve fame and success in the film industry during the final years of Hollywood’s Golden Age in 1969 Los Angeles.

This is not the first time Nichole has worked with Tarantino, most notably, he hand picked Galicia for his film Django Unchained, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx. Galicia garnered much buzz for her portrayal of “Sheba,” DiCaprio’s love interest and since, she has been extremely well received in the fashion industry, with her photos running in Page Six, W and online fashion sites, noting her exceptional taste in clothing, versatile hairstyles among other trending aspects of her looks.

Born in Panama and raised in New York, Galicia focused on her brains, not beauty. To date, Galicia’s modeling credits include ad campaigns for: The Gap, Pepsi, Neutrogena and Hanes. Additionally, her unique face has graced the pages of GQ, Vogue and Elle. She also did an edgy shoot with W magazine with Tarantino to promote their first film together.

When Galicia is not modeling or acting she devotes her time to charities focused on developing the esteem and confidence of youth. Nichole actively serves on the board of the Junior Committee of the New York Center for Children; a charity dedicated to raising awareness and fighting child abuse. As a sports fan, Galicia enjoys the power and fury of Formula One Racing.

Hi Nichole, tell us about you?

I’m an actor, model and I founded a nonprofit with the mission of mentoring underserved girls called The Orchid Foundation. I love art, Diego Velazquez is my favorite painter, I give the BEST tour through the Prado Museum, I love to travel, I love Formula 1 and football and I’m secretly addicted to TV.

Describe yourself in 3 words?

Feminine. Smart. Strong.

Who is your biggest supporter?

I am my biggest supporter.

How did you get started acting?

My modeling agent suggested I take acting classes.

Did you go to acting school?

Yes, and I also have a private coach.

When did you first know you wanted to become an actress?

I don’t think I ever made that decision, acting happened very organically for me. I would say I transitioned into acting from modeling rather than having this childhood dream of becoming an actor.

What is the scariest part of an audition?

The 3 minutes you have when they call the actor’s name before you. Everything gets very real, very quickly.

How did you get involved in this project?

I auditioned for the role. Despite having auditioned and nearly booking a role in Grindhouse (Death Proof) and working on Django Unchained, I auditioned.

How was working with Quentin Tarantino?

Incredible. I hope to do it several more times. He’s a wonderful person.

And working with Top Hollywood cast like Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie?

Anytime you get to work with people at the top of their craft it makes you a better artist. I welcome those opportunities.

If you could choose, what three actors/actresses would you really want to work with?

Viola Davis, Meryl Streep and Vanessa Bell Calloway. May I have another 3? Tom Hanks, Jharrel Jerome, Tom Cruise. Donald Glover/Childish Gambino. I want to work with Samuel Jackson again, Regina King, Amandla Stenberg, Danai Gurira and tons more you don’t have time for me to list.

Now tell us about your work as Sheba in Django Unchained?

Playing Sheba in Django Unchained was a dream come true. I was surrounded by Oscar winners in every direction from Quentin Tarantino, Bob Richardson, Jamie Foxx, who was so welcoming and treated me like family from day one, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christolph Waltz. It was amazing. And it was exactly as imagined it would be. I was in a creative vortex. Tarantino gave me an amazing experience.

Best advice ever given?

Keep your mouth shut. Always show up with a chaperone. What other people think about you is not your business. Be on time, which means be early. Save your money. Every battle is won or lost before it is fought. Take Fountain.

What is your favorite healthy food?

Salmon.

And your favorite cheat food?

Pizza, plain and from New York, of course.

How do you see yourself in 5 years?

I used to plan everything. Then I got slapped in the face by life and I’ve found that what’s best for me is to be present and trust my gut. Five years will come when it comes. I will be ready.

Do you support any charities?

I run a nonprofit that I founded more than four years ago called The Orchid Foundation, www.theorchidfdn.org, with the mission of mentoring underserved girls to and through college. I provide programs such as financial literacy, SAT prep, career days, tutors, college bootcamp and much more. My girls are thriving. I’m very proud of the work I do here. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit so all donations are 100% tax deductible. Please be social with us on Instagram @theorchidfdn
